ALAC 2017 | Jasmine Nyende: Lost Angles
January 28, 2017
Inspired by found footage from her childhood, Jasmine Nyende explores technology and the self-valuing of memory through the decision to "save or delete." The play spans 10 years, from Jasmine’s first social media accounts–Photobucket and Myspace–to the current virtuality she inhabits. By pulling, reworking and creating long form content based on relationships with extinct versus emerging media platforms, Lost Angles is a multilayered study in identity formation. The play focuses Los Angeles as the stage and the lost, untold stories the city forgets.
