ALAC 2017 | Dan Levenson: Foundational Principles of the State Art Academy, Zurich (SKZ)
January 27, 2017
Dan Levenson presents a talk on the State Art Academy Zürich (SKZ), an influential, albeit fictitious, Swiss art school responsible for a late revival of a strictly modernist practice. Weaving between his own work as a painter and the legacy of the SKZ, Levenson presents a talk that explores how ideas and philosophies of art are recuperated into new work, highlighting the difficulty of being original within the context of academic, economic, and ideological structures. Levenson’s talk is presented by Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects.
