Crowds descended on Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica airport yesterday afternoon for the VIP preview of Art Los Angeles Contemporary, the fast-rising regional fair that reflects LA’s vibrant and expanding contemporary art scene
The eighth edition of Art Los Angeles Contemporary opens Thursday, January 26, and runs through Sunday, January 29. The fair, which returns to the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, brings together 61 national and international exhibitors. Among the highlights are Tom of Finland drawings at David Kordansky Gallery, Liz Craft at Jenny’s, David Lynch at Kayne Griffin Corcoran, and an installation, presented by Club Pro Los Angeles, of work by Timo Fahler and Rafa Esparza (who will be in this year’s Whitney Biennial)!
Joel Lubin and his wife, Serbian actress Marija Karan (The Rite, Assassination Games), were set to host the Jan. 25 welcome party for Art Los Angeles Contemporary, welcoming the ascendant fair's dealers, collectors and gallerists — as well as founder Tim Fleming and such host committee members as art consultant Veronica Fernandez and MOCA board vice chair Eugenio Lopez — at their midcentury modern home in the Hollywood Hills

The Art Los Angeles Contemporary fair, which runs January 29 through February 1, 2015, has announced the exhibitors for its sixth edition, and also which artists those galleries will be bringing.
Several major events will follow the LA Art Show later this month, like Art Los Angeles Contemporary, a smaller but prominent show of more than 60 galleries in a historic airplane hangar at the Santa Monica airport. That fair, entering its sixth year, has helped launch an art-focused weekend in Los Angeles at the end of January, along with the LA Art Book Fair and Paramount Ranch, a gathering of galleries and artist-run spaces started in 2014.
