February 08, 2019

Art Los Angeles Reader releases its fifth newspaper in the Moveable Types section of ALAC

The Art Los Angeles Reader is a newsprint publication, published on the occasion of Art Los Angeles Contemporary. Edited by Tracy Jeanne Rosenthal, The Art Los Angeles Reader focuses on contemporary art, architecture and culture, using Los Angeles as a lens into the globe.

In its four years, the Art Los Angeles Reader has housed artist projects by Math Bass, Lauren Davis Fisher, William Leavitt, Sean Raspat, and Richard Hawkins, among others, as well as contributions by Contemptorary, Karon Davis, Aria Dean, Travis Diehl, Helen Molseworth, Jonathan Griffin, Samara Golden, Alma Ruiz, Kate Wolf, Amy Yao, and more. In celebration of Pacific Standard Time, our last issue was a collaboration with Mexico City’s Terremoto Magazine.

The 2019 issue of The Art Los Angeles Reader is organized around the theme of Special Effects and features writing by Claire Evans (of Broad Band Book and Yacht), Mandy Harris Williams (of #BrownUpYourFeed) and Brian Droitcour (assistant editor at Art in America), an interview with historian and theorist Norman Klein, as well as two unique artist projects, by photographer Paul Mpagi Sepuya and painter Edie Fake.

Issues are free to the public and available at ALAC 2019 as well as galleries and bookstores around town.
