Puppies Puppies: Red Carpet
7pm, Thursday, January 26, 2017
ALAC Main Entrance
Puppies Puppies presents a series of on-site performances each day at ALAC, employing a number of readymade mascot costumes in marathon works that expose the jarring strangeness of perceiving the everyday from a radically different, or “queer”, perspective. Puppies Puppies culls from the realm of entertainment and children’s programming in his surreal and unsettling explorations into the psychological realm of the readymade. Much of his work plays in the space between lower, mass-market forms of pop culture and the elevated place of fine art, having used Minions, Snapple bottles, Voldemort and Gollum in previous presentations. Puppies Puppies is based in Los Angeles and has previously shown work at the 2016 Berlin Biennial, 2016 Bienal de Nicaragua and Halle für Kunst, Lüneburg, Germany. His work will be exhibited in the 2017 Whitney Biennial. His performances at ALAC are presented courtesy of Queer Thoughts.
