Huang Rui: Ping Pong
7:30pm, Thursday, January 26, 2017
Beijing-based artist Huang Rui performs an on-site performance Ping Pong that references the legacy of Chinese-American cultural and diplomatic relations through the trope of the game of ping-pong, emblematic for the thawing of relations between Chairman Mao Zedong and President Richard Nixon. Alongside Ai Weiwei, Wang Keping, Li Shang and others, Rui is a founding member of the avant-garde group Stars that led to the creation of China’s contemporary art scene. He has presented work in institutions including the National Art Museum, China, the Groninger Museum, Netherlands, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York. This performance is courtesy of 10 Chancery Lane, Hong Kong.
